Danielle Elyse learned sign language as a young girl. Her mother used to teach at the Michigan School for the Deaf.
As she grew up, Danielle Elyse began interpreting music at church, and later interpreted for a deaf member.
After graduating from college, she decided to pursue an interpreting degree from Gallaudet University, the premier global educational institution specifically designed to serve Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Danielle Elyse graduated with a master's degree in interpretation in 2002. She went on to earn her certificate of interpretation (CI) and certificate of transliteration (CT) in 2004 from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), a national membership organization.
Since that time, Danielle Elyse has worked in several states in a variety of settings, including:
Danielle Elyse has also served as a mentor to interpreter training students at local colleges, presented in a college class, led a workshop with a colleague and trained several individuals in the VRS setting. Additionally, she is a vendor with the State of Michigan.
She is currently working as a full-time staff interpreter and flex-time Video Relay Service interpreter. Pursuant to state mandates, Danielle Elyse is registered with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. She is endorsed in the medical and secondary educational arenas and in settings with Deaf-Blind individuals.
